How to Use This Help

Help Options

The best way to access the Help depends on various different factors: Internet connection, storage space and your personal preference of how you would like to view the Help.

If you have a permanent Internet connection, you should consider using the online Help version.This version always contains the most up-to-date information.

If you do not have a permanent Internet connection and use an offline copy of the Help, you can install the Help from the DVD, together with the application.You can also download a current version of the Help to store offline if needed.

Navigating in the Help

The following support is available to help you use this Help:

Navigation Frame

Use the navigation frame on the left-hand side to access the following help contents:

  •  Contents
    TOC as expandable tree structure. The icon of a (closed or opened) book depicts chapters which contain help topics. The chapters themselves normally also contain a help topic. Help topics with no subordinate help topics have a page icon with an exclamation point.
  •  Search
    The full-text search returns hits for all help topics in the TOC, browse sequences and other documents, if applicable. You can add your search as a browse sequence so that you can easily access it next time. You can find more information about the search below.
  •  Glossary
    The technical and business glossary lists terminology included in the Innovator interface as well as the modeling methods with conceptual, realistic definitions implemented. This is done to ensure the technical terms are used correctly and are understood.
  •  Browse Sequences
    Browse sequences show help topics for special topics in separate tree structures. They are used for setting out help topics from the table of contents to look at from another point of view.The browse sequence for "Innovator for Business Analysts (Personal Edition)" contains e.g. an excerpt from the Help for this edition for "Innovator (Enterprise Edition)".
  •  Favorites
    You can mark your preferred search inquiries and topics as favorites. Click on the "Add search string to favorites" icon in the search or the "Add topic to favorites" icon in the toolbar to add a topic or search to your favorites.

Toolbar

The top-most toolbar contains the following functions:

  •  Hide/Show Navigation
    Hides/shows the navigation frame on the left-hand side.
  •  Previous Topic
    Opens the previous topic in the order it appears in the Help. The current topic is searched for in the browse sequence first and then the previous topic is navigated to from there.If it does not exist in a browse sequence then the current topic is searched for in the table of contents and the previous topic is opened there.
  •  Home
    Opens the Help's start page.
  •  Next Topic
    Opens the next topic in the order it appears in the Help. The current topic is searched for in the browse sequence first and then the next topic is navigated to from there. If it does not exist in a browse sequence then the current topic is searched for in the table of contents and the next topic is opened there.
  •  Show All
    All text sections which can be expanded are shown. The browser search corresponds to the whole text.
  •  Hide All
    All text sections which can be expanded are hidden.
  •  Add Topic to Favorites
    Adds the active topic to the favorites for quick access next time you need it.
  •  Print Topic
    Opens the Print dialog so you can send the current topic to the printer.
  •  Quick Search
    Searches the current topic for the whole word, all words or group of words in inverted commas you entered in the search field.
  •  Remove Search Highlighting
    Removes the highlighting for text found by the search in the current topic.

Browse Sequences

The browse sequences contain certain topics. Browse sequences are there to show a topic independently from or instead of the table of contents.

The search also searches through topics which only appear in the browse sequences. You will be able to recognize a topic that does not appear in the table of contents as it will not be highlighted there at the same time.
